Dallas Woodburn
Dallas Woodburn published her first book, There’s a Huge Pimple On My Nose, when she was in fifth grade… and she hasn’t stopped since! She has published novels and short stories for teens and adults, written essays for dozens of Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and edited two anthologies of teen fiction and poetry. Dallas's love of writing has given her many amazing experiences, including writing a column for a glossy magazine, sitting in the audience as a play she wrote was performed off-Broadway, and hopping on a plane to NYC to be interviewed on national television. Dallas is passionate about using writing as a tool of connection and empowerment, whether that is through teaching youth writing classes through her organization Write On! Books, or interviewing authors about their creative lives for her popular podcast Overflowing Bookshelves.
A born-and-raised California girl, Dallas studied Creative Writing at the University of Southern California, then spent three years braving snowy winters at Purdue University while earning her Master's degree in Fiction Writing. She now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her amazing husband, adorable daughter, and windowsill succulent garden. She was not named after the city in Texas, but rather after her grandfather, whose middle name is Dallas. But she did visit Dallas one time and the local diner gave her a free breakfast when she showed them her driver’s license.
